the line: we invent meaning like children build forts, out of blankets and conviction. not because it protects us. but because it’s what we know how to do.
its almost the same as saying “it’s only natural for us to create meaning”
“wu wei is the wisdom of letting things be as they are. it’s not the absence of action, but the grace of moving with the currents of life instead of against them” I like this definition, especially when thinking through “opposite action” where sometimes moving with the current instead of figuring out why is the best way to ride the wave.
Reading this felt like finding words for something I've only ever experienced in fragments, and it made me reflect—perhaps we don't need to understand the universe to be moved by it. After all, maybe being moved IS enough. For that reason, thank you—you've managed to make insignificance feel like a form of grace! <33
i loved this sosososo much! eeaao is one of my favorite films ever in the world and i always reference it in writing for school as well. reading ur work, as i plan to study neuroscience in the future helped confirm my interest and passion in the subject and made me excited to learn and understand more. so so beautiful tysm
This is beautifully written. I find it fascinating as well that you touched on Taoism and cosmology. I have studied both extensively and loved seeing someone else with similar interests. Everything Everywhere All at Once was also a film that brought me to tears and one that I still consider an all-time favorite. I imagine we would be good friends with so much in common :).
This piece moved me and felt as thought I could've written it myself (although I certainly couldn't have worded it/weaved it together as perfectly as you have). It makes me think its no coincidence that someone who appreciates the same films, ideologies, and fields of study as me would have such similar thoughts about love, the world, and time. Thank you for sharing this - I've bookmarked this as one of my favorite pieces I've read thus far.
i cry every single time i watch eeaao, we definitely have so much in common :) ! i feel like we’d have endless things to talk about, thank you so much for your kind words about my writing <33!!
“how beautiful it is that a brain shaped by survival can still choose tenderness.” that line speaks to me in so many levels — love and tenderness are not strategies or outcomes, but a natural response, an essential part of our nature. even when the body has been shaped by struggle, it still knows how to return to softness.
Wow, ok. "love isn’t written into the laws of the universe. but the body loves as if it is. it paints it into music, into language, into memory. it holds someone’s hand and calls that enough."
this was absolutely beautiful. you took my hand and gently walked me through the hallways of my mind i seem to ignore.
making sense of the universe by falling into its simplicities like raging butterflies when knees touch under a table and complexities like grieving the death of someone still alive.
thank you so much for such a beautiful comment, i think we’re all still trying to make sense of things by feeling our way through them. happy this resonated with you the way it did <3
